Beginning January 2, 2024, the Pittsburg Public Library will close at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Previously, the Library was open until 8:00 p.m. All other operating hours will remain the same. On Monday evenings, the Library will be open until 8:00 p.m.
The library made this adjustment after reviewing data as to when the public is using library services. Less than 1% of library patrons used library services during this time.
We believe this new schedule will allow us to have more staff available for the public when they need us the most. We will be adding new programs and utilizing our staff more effectively to best serve our community. This is not a cost cutting decision nor a move to reduce staff hours.
