The Pittsburg Public Library is preparing for a major technology upgrade. On Tuesday, October 6, the Library will join SEKnFind, an integrated library system (ILS) designed to make finding and accessing library materials easier and more convenient. SEKnFind is administered by the Southeast Kansas Library System (SEKLS), based in Iola, Kansas.
SEKnFind offers a simple, intuitive catalog that will make it easier for patrons to search for materials, check their library accounts, and place holds online. The move will also connect Pittsburg Public Library to a larger network of participating libraries throughout southeast Kansas, expanding opportunities for patrons to discover and access materials.
To complete the transition, the Library will close at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, and remain closed through Tuesday, October 6. Staff from the Southeast Kansas Library System (SEKLS) will be onsite to assist with the transition and provide training to Library staff.
The Library will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, with SEKnFind up and running.
Library staff appreciate the community’s patience during the brief closure and look forward to introducing patrons to a more user-friendly system that will improve access to Library resources for years to come.
